At St Vincent’s, we believe that wearing school uniform supports a strong sense of identity, belonging and pride in our school community. A smart and consistent uniform also promotes equality, reduces social pressures and helps children to focus on what really matters – learning, growing and flourishing together.
We have high expectations for uniform and appearance because we know that these expectations support positive behaviour, readiness to learn and respect for our school environment.
We are very grateful for families’ support in helping children to come to school each day dressed smartly, appropriately and ready to learn.
Why we have a school uniform
Our uniform helps to:
-
Create a strong sense of belonging to St Vincent’s
-
Promote pride in our school and its values
-
Ensure children feel included and equal
-
Reduce ‘fashion competition’ and distraction
-
Support high standards of behaviour and learning.

From time to time, we offer second-hand uniform items, which are advertised in the school newsletter. Families may also find some St Vincent’s uniform items at the local charity shop in Mottingham.
Labelling
Please ensure that all uniform and PE items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This greatly helps us to return lost property quickly.
Our expectations are set out in detail in the School Uniform and Appearance Policy (July 2025), which can be found here:
