Geography Implementation

  • Geography provides a means of exploring, appreciating and understanding the world in which we live and how it has evolved. It explores the relationship between the Earth and its people through the study of place, space and environment.
  • In EYFS and KS1, we help children understand the human and physical world around them as they know it and explore it further, before expanding on this knowledge in KS2.
  • In KS2 we learn and compare the earth systems, environments, human and physical differences and challenges faced in various continents to what we know life to be.
  • Children will learn the skills of understanding a locality and how and where people fit into its overall structure.
  • In order to achieve a greater and broader depth of knowledge we encourage staff to use resources from a wide variety of sources.
  • With opportunities to travel and work in different cities and countries across the world, pupils need to use maps, charts and other geographical data efficiently.
  • Providing children with an awareness of their surroundings, their own responsibilities and how they can contribute to improving the environment in a more sustainable way.
