Special Education Needs (SEND)

SEND information and report

We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. Our Special Needs Policy can be found on our website and gives parents general information about support for pupils with Special Educational Needs, however, any parent who wishes to discuss their individual child’s needs is encouraged to meet with their child’s teacher initially and then with the Special Needs Coordinator. Planning for children with Special Educational Needs is an integral part of every class teacher’s work. Our aim is to ensure that all children’s needs are identified, strategies are developed to address these needs and that monitoring, reviewing and evaluating procedures are rigorous to maintain progression in learning. Within our school there are a variety of different support groups, clubs and individual sessions, designed to support our pupils. The range of support made in the school is “Needs Lead” and therefore varies each year in response to identified needs. Additional support for a pupil is either provided by us or by outside agencies. In addition to this support we provide further support to enable the children to reach their potential. A small minority of pupils need more support, and for this reason there is a process through which the Local Education Authority can award High Needs Funding or an Education Health Care Plan (EHC) to a pupil in order to make additional or different provision for that child. All of these options, and support for the parents of our pupils, can be found at school.

Our SENCo is Catherine Badawi. She works Tuesday (all day) Wednesday (all day) and Thursday (morning only). She can be contacted via the school office on
