Mini Vinnies
At St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School we have a dedicated team of Mini Vinnies, who are made up of 12 children from Years 3 and 4.
Mini Vinnies are 7 to 11 year olds based in schools and parishes across England and Wales, and in several other countries across the world. They come together to form a part of the St. Vincent de Paul Society England and Wales, a voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms.
Our Mini Vinnies continue to flourish in the school and meet regularly with Mrs Hall to further develop the positive impact that they have made on the Catholic life of the school. Our Mini Vinnies truly turn concern into action as they use the simple formula of ‘see, think, do’ to find people in need and help them,
During the Autumn term, the Mini Vinnies decided to support the Bromley Food bank, by asking all of the school community to donate valuable goods to those in need.
In the build up to Christmas, the children are supporting the ‘Christmas Card Project 2023.’ They have asked all of the children in the school to create a Christmas Card for those that are experiencing loneliness at Christmas, a project led by the Borough of Bromley.
Guardian Angels
At St Vincent’s we have a special group of children from Year 5 and 6 that are our own ‘Guardian Angels.’ They have a key role at play times, lunchtimes, in the lunch hall or even walking down the corridor. They look out for any children that may be feeling sad or lonely, and guide and support them to build friendships with other children. This helps to ensure they are feeling happy, safe and continue to flourish at St Vincent’s.
Spiritual Leaders
At St Vincent’s we have a group of Year 6 children whose key role in the school is focusing on prayer. They work together to bring our school community closer to God through prayer. One of the ways they have chosen to do this is by leading the Rosary every Tuesday morning, where all children at St Vincent’s are welcome to attend. They also visit each class every morning to lead prayer. They are doing a wonderful job, of guiding and supporting our school community to continue to deepen their relationship with God.
